Before round 1

Pick your comp at player select

Most comps can't pivot late. Heroes are grown over many rounds, and selling one loses gold. So the real decision happens before the game starts.

Check the bans

See which card pools are banned this game. Some comps are dead the moment their pool is gone.

Read the lobby

Look at the other players' picks and think about which comps they're likely to go for.

Then pick your comp

Choose the one with the best shot at first place in this lobby, not the one you like best.

First place also takes luck

When your key cards show up matters as much as whether they show up at all. If the others don't hit their comps and you hit yours, first place is usually yours. A good guide raises your odds. It can't guarantee the cards.
